Stars Align for Hauppauge High School Students at 2017 Teeny Awards

Hauppauge High School theatre students enjoyed a Red Carpet Moment at the Islip Arts Council’s 2017 Teeny Awards, which was held on June 4, 2017, at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center, Oakdale, New York. The Teeny Awards is the Islip Arts Council’s version of the Tony Awards for the Township’s high school students. The following Hauppauge High School students were Teeny Awards winners in the following categories:

Best Ensemble in a Comedy/Drama for Laramie Project

Francesco DiFlora – Best Lead Actor in a Comedy/Drama for Laramie Project

Student Pit Orchestra received special recognition for The Boyfriend

The following Hauppauge High School students received special recognition Teeny Award Certificates in the following categories:

Lena Reisfield – Stage Manager

Andrew Silva – Lead Stage Crew

Alexandra Rivera – Sound Design

Robert Accomando – Art Design

Heebin Im – Art Design

Valentina Silva – Director’s Choice – Assistant Directing, Laramie Project

Catherine Rice – Director’s Choice – Assistant to the Director, The Boyfriend

Now in its ninth year, the mission of the Teeny Awards is to recognize and celebrate the talented theatre students in Islip Township, encourage them to pursue their dreams and to stimulate local interest, while developing an understanding of the value of theatre education in a well-rounded school curriculum. The Teeny Awards reflect a commitment by the Islip Arts Council to recognize the high school theatre experience as an opportunity for young people to prepare themselves for the world beyond school walls.
