Special Weather Statement Issued For Western Suffolk County

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for western Suffolk County:

At 828 AM EST, radar indicated a line of heavy showers moving across Suffolk County. Movement was northeast at 40 mph. Brief heavy rainfall and wind gusts up to 30 mph are possible. Rainfall amounts up to half an inch can be expected with the heaviest showers. Ponding on roadways can be expected in areas where the heaviest rain falls.

Thursday- Showers, mainly before noon. High near 56. South wind 9 to 16 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. West wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Friday- Sunny, with a high near 48. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early. Breezy, with a northwest wind 14 to 20 mph.

Friday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

Saturday- A 30 percent chance of showers after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 58. South wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.

Saturday Night- Showers, mainly after midnight. Low around 47. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
