The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for western Suffolk County:
At 828 AM EST, radar indicated a line of heavy showers moving across Suffolk County. Movement was northeast at 40 mph. Brief heavy rainfall and wind gusts up to 30 mph are possible. Rainfall amounts up to half an inch can be expected with the heaviest showers. Ponding on roadways can be expected in areas where the heaviest rain falls.

Thursday- Showers, mainly before noon. High near 56. South wind 9 to 16 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
