Suffolk County Student Wins 'Chopped Junior' Competition
County Executive Steve Bellone congratulated winner Lauryn Mitchell on Facebook.

Lauryn Mitchell, a Suffolk County student from Center Morich and 10-year-old chef extraordinaire, won the Food Network's cooking competition show "Chopped Junior" broadcast Tuesday night.
Mitchell competed against three other student contestants in a show modeled after the show cooking show for adults called "Chopped." As a prize, the winner of "Chopped Junior" takes home $10,000.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone praised Mitchell on Facebook, commending her for winning the competition.

"The newly-minted Chopped champion appeared on Food Network's competition last night and made all of Suffolk County proud with three well-executed dishes," he wrote. "At 10 years old, she can out-cook me and most of my staff!"
He even extended her an invitation to his offices in Hauppauge — in exchange for one of her recipes:
