Snowfall Estimates Rise Again For First Day of Spring Storm
Winter weather advisory goes into effect at 6 a.m. Friday.

Alright, let’s get this over with.
Following a winter of what seemed like non-stop snow at times, spring will officially begin at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. And it will very likely be snowing at that time.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the region, in effect from 6 a.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday. Snowfall estimates have risen once again from earlier forecasts with 4-6 inches now expected across Long Island and New York City.

Snow may begin to fall during the Friday morning commute, but the bulk of the snow will come in the afternoon and through the evening, the NWS says.
Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to reduced visibilities and snow covered roads.

There may be a brief window during the late afternoon and evening where some areas could see a snow and rain mix, but the NWS says it will likely be cold enough–with a high near 32 on Friday–to support an all-snow event.
The snow should end by early Saturday morning, with party sunny skies and a high near 42 on tap for the second day of spring.Â
