Heat Warning Issued For Long Island As Temperatures Climb
It could feel like more than 100 degrees out in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
LONG ISLAND, NY — A heat warning has been issued for Long Island, with the National Weather Service saying temperatures today and tomorrow could feel like over 100 degrees.
According to the NWS, the heat advisory is in effect from noon today to 8 p.m. tomorrow for all of Nassau County and for northwest Suffolk County. The heat index could climb as high as 102 degrees in some areas. The heat advisory may extend into Wednesday, as well.
The NWS said the combination of high temperatures and humidity will make it feel much hotter than it is. Temperatures are predicted to peak on Wednesday, with a forecasted high around 93. Rain is expected to come in Wednesday night into Thursday, which will drop temperatures. The rain is predicted to stick around through the rest of the week, and possibly into the weekend, too.
