Nassau Has Third-Best Vaccination Rate In State
80 percent of the county's adults have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, according to state data.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Although pandemic restrictions have lifted across New York, the coronavirus is still present. Vaccination is the key way to fight the virus and stop it from spreading. And Nassau County has the third-highest vaccination rate in the state, and the highest among counties with large populations.
A vast majority of adults in the county have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine. According to data from the state, 80 percent of adults in the county have received at least one dose. The only places with a higher vaccination rate is Hamilton County, which has 80.4 percent of adults with at least one dose, and Schenectady County, which has a vaccination rate of 80.6 percent.
Overall, 66.5 percent of the county's total population has received at least one dose of the vaccine. Many of those still to be vaccinated are children.

“This virus has not disappeared, and as more contagious COVID-19 variants like Delta emerge,
getting vaccinated remains the single best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from
getting sick or dying from Covid," Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said. "The county is keeping an eye on the numbers and external developments, and we continue to encourage eligible residents who haven't gotten their shots yet to roll up their sleeves."
Nassau County has also had great success in vaccinating its elderly residents. State data shows that nearly all residents 55 and older have received at least one dose of a vaccine. And more than 99 percent of residents 65 to 74 have been vaccinated.

“Since day one of the county’s vaccination campaign, our motto has been 'We Can Do It,
Nassau!', and I am beyond proud of our residents for rising to the challenge and getting the job
done,” said Curran. “Our success has been a team effort, and we owe an eternal debt of gratitude to our county’s medical professionals, frontline workers, Health Commissioner [Lawrence] Eisenstein and Nassau’s Department of Health staff, and of course our many volunteers who worked tirelessly to get shots in arms.”
