Home Depot To Close One Nassau Store As New One Opens

Workers from the old store will be transferred to the new one, preserving all of their jobs.

The Home Depot is planning to close one location in Nassau County and move its workers to a brand new building a few miles down the road.

The East Meadow Home Depot store, located on Hempstead Turnpike, is slated to close on Sept. 13, according to Newsday. The next day, the home improvement chain will hold a grand opening for its new store in Levittown, located at 3350 Hempstead Turnpike.

The new Levittown store sits on the site of the former K-Mart, which had laid vacant for nearly two decades. Home Depot began demolition work on the site last September, and has been building its new store ever since.
