Island Trees Robotics Team Wins 'Incredible Bionic Man Challenge' Grand Prize

The team of five students will share a $5,000 scholarship prize.

Five Island Trees High School students have been declared winners of the Smithsonian Channel's "The Incredible Bionic Man Challenge."

As part of a documentary airing this past October called “The Incredible Bionic Man”, a challenge to build a bionic body part was issued to high school students in Cablevision and Comcast viewing areas.

On Dec. 12, at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., the robotics team from Island Trees High School was chosen as grand prize winner from among four regional finalists. Team members Marc Lubniewski, Matt Bacotti, Rob McCoy, Ben Wiener and Chris Schmidt will share the $5,000 scholarship prize.
