The Latest Long Island Snow Total Estimates, Timeline

See the latest snowfall total estimate maps for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Long Island is expected to see 2-3 inches of snow Tuesday into Wednesday morning, according to the latest National Weather Service snowfall total estimate maps.

There's a chance of snow and rain beginning Tuesday afternoon, but the heaviest precipitation will develop Tuesday night into Wednesday. Any mixed precipitation should turn to all snow by around 2 a.m. Wednesday as temperatures fall into the lower 30s. The snow will likely continue through the morning rush hour commute.

Enough snow may fall to create hazardous conditions on the roadways, but the NWS is pretty confident that we won't see more than three inches of snow. There's just a 1 percent chance of four or more inches accumulating on most of the island.
