Levittown Fire Ladies Auxiliary Founder Turns 94: PHOTOS
Firefighters and police officials helped wish a happy birthday to Mercedes Quinn, founder of the Levittown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

LEVITTOWN, NY — Firefighters and police officials helped wish the founder of the Levittown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary a happy 94th birthday over the weekend.
The Levittown Volunteer Fire Department along with the Nassau County Police Commissioner, family and friends, celebrated Mercedes Quinn's birthday on Sunday afternoon. Quinn started the auxiliary in 1951 and was previously the president of the both the Levittown auxiliary and the county auxiliary.
Quinn has 10 children, two-dozen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She has been an active member of the ladies auxiliary for 69 years and her husband, John, was a charter member of Engine Company No. 3. Quinn waved to everyone who passed by.
