LEVITTOWN, NY — Division Avenue High School senior Christopher Smith of Levittown has been recognized by the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership organization as a HOBY Academic All-Star, Levittown School District officials said.

In order to earn the distinction, which is given to HOBY alumni and volunteers who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements in the classroom, a student must be a senior in high school or in college, according to a district news release. The student must have either attended or volunteered at an official HOBY program in 2019 or earlier and have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, district officials said.

Receiving the HOBY All-Star status can help students stand out from their peers during the college admission process, school district officials said, adding that the designation can also help them land a job after graduation.
