Long Island Weather: Warm Week, But Maybe Lots Of Rain

LONG ISLAND, NY — As the heat wave that hit over the weekend starts to dissipate, Long Island is still going to be getting some warm temperatures. And maybe a bunch of thunder storms, too.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday is going to be the hottest day of the week, with a predicted high around 84 degrees — slightly above average, but not oppressively hot. After Wednesday, temperatures are going to dip back down into the 70s.

Unfortunately, it may be hard to enjoy those warm temperatures as there's a chance of rain just about every day this week.

Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 9 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 79.
