Long Island Weather: Wet Start Gives Way To Warm, Sunny Week

LONG ISLAND, NY — After what looks to be a wet start to the week, Long Island is in for some sunny days and warm temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service, there's a good chance of rain Monday night and into Tuesday. But after that, the rest of the week should have clear skies. Temperatures for the rest of the week will hover in the high 70s and low 80s.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 64. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers between 8 and 11 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. Northwest wind around 8 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 79. Northwest wind around 9 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 77.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.
