Man Broke Into Florist, Stole Car: Nassau Police

Police say he broke into a Levittown florist and stole an employee's car.

LEVITTOWN, NY — A Central Islip man was arrested on Saturday after Nassau County police say he broke into a friend's florist and stole an employee's car.

According to police, sometime between 6 p.m. on May 21 and 9:30 a.m. on May 22, Jarrid Lopez, 24, of Bow Lane, broke into Flowers By Phil, located at 2728 Hempstead Turnpike, by damaging the back door.

Once he was inside, police say Lopez found the keys to a grey 2000 Mercury Sable, which was owned by an employee of the store, and then fled in the car.

Lopez was arrested several hours later without incident, police said.

He is charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree grand larceny. He was arraigned on Sunday and released with a temporary order of protection.
