Levittown, NY– New Ground Inc., a local nonprofit that works to break the cycle of homeless for Veterans and families living on Long Island, announced the appointment of Steven Pecorini as President of its Board of Directors. Mr. Pecorini, who joined New Ground’s Board in 2015, succeeds Edward McDougal who served as Board President from 2011-2020.

Mr. Pecorini is a pro bono consultant to nonprofits and a retired banking executive. When he left JPMorgan Chase in 2019 after 36 years, Mr. Pecorini’s accomplishments included managing large operating departments, leading financial planning initiatives, and successfully running complex technology projects. He then worked for a year as the Operations Manager with Habitat for Humanity in Nassau County where he performed a wide variety of functions including donor and volunteer management, social media development, and construction coordination. Mr. Pecorini has a MBA from the Columbia Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Williams College.

Prior to being elected Board President this year, Mr. Pecorini was Vice President since 2017 and a member of New Ground’s Finance, Program, and Major Gift committees. He was also chairman of the Advisory Board and helped organize a strategic planning offsite.

Through his passion and commitment to New Ground over the years, Mr. Pecorini has established a rich history with the agency. He brings with him an extensive knowledge of the nonprofit sector and more specifically his work with the underserved community. As part of Hot Bread Kitchen’s Incubator Advisory Committee, Steve mentored a NYC small business owner struggling with the impact of Covid. He also led a volunteer JPMorgan Chase team that developed pricing and cost models for Hot Bread Kitchen’s incubator. Steve has also consulted with Breaking Ground in NYC, the YWCA of Metro Chicago, and the NYC Kids Project.

“New Ground is a wonderful organization, and I am grateful and honored to be the new Board President. Looking to 2021 and beyond, as we begin to put Covid behind us, the Board and I will be focused on how to prepare New Ground for the future and how to meet the evolving challenges of homelessness on Long Island.” - Steven Pecorini
