Strong Snow Squalls Approaching Nassau County

BREAKING: Visibility on the roads may be briefly reduced to a quarter mile or less in the squalls.

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Nassau County:

At 220 pm...strong snow squalls were moving southeast at about 30 mph across portions central Connecticut and the Lower Hudson Valley. These squalls will move into southern Connecticut and portions of New York City and Nassau County over the next hour. Visibility in the snow squall may be briefly reduced to a quarter mile or less in the heaviest snow squalls, with a dusting of snow possible. Drivers should use caution when encountering the snow squall.

A snow squall is a sudden moderately heavy snow fall with blowing snow and strong, gusty surface winds.
