Back To School Lunches

Quick ideas and easy, healthy choices for back to school lunches.

Back to school means back to getting creative after that awkward end of summer boredom. It's hard to entertain your child's palate when the last two weeks you have probably been to so many barbecues that school lunch was the last thing on your mind.

Clothing is bought, supplies were bought, now it's time to figure out what foods to pack. Well, put your thinking hats on and get shopping. We love Bento lunch boxes. They are reusable food storage containers with 3 compartments. They are also microwaveable, freezer & dishwasher safe. These lunch containers will save your life. Instead of packing an old zipper seal sandwich bagged sandwich (and a bag of chips) try something new. Some of our favorite Bento lunch box ideas are:

Cheese sticks wrapped in turkey breast roll ups and a side of colored pepper slices.

Yogurt and granola with raisons and almonds, side of cantaloupe cubes.

Cucumber, cooked shrimp, tomato, and chunks of chicken on a Popsicle stick skewer side of dried fruit.

Banana slices, peanut butter and applesauce and sesame bread sticks.

Chick Peas, slices mandarin oranges, and a sliced hot dog.

Also, make water fun. Start by ripping off water bottle labels and popping a few blueberries and watermelon cubes in the bottle. Your children will prefer water over juice pouches any day.

There are so many different assortments of colors, flavors and textures that you can mix in a Bento box. Get creative and let me know what other ideas you come up with. Happy "Back to School."
