Career Possibilities Are Limitless for Uniondale Scholars
Turtle Hook Middle School Hosts Career Day Celebration
Uniondale, N.Y. —The Uniondale Union Free School District’s Turtle Hook Middle School recently organized a series of special guests to visit eighth grade scholars as part of a Career Day celebration. Professionals representing a wide range of industries shared important firsthand knowledge and interesting personal experiences pertaining to their careers. After the presentations, scholars asked questions about the different careers and how to prepare for the future.
Professionals were assigned to a classroom and they spoke to the scholars about their upbringing, their education, and factors that contributed to what got them to where they are today. The professional occupations of the men and women speaking with the Uniondale scholars included a physical therapist, social worker, detective, acting and even a DJ. The guests shared information about their careers and explained how being a responsible reader contributed to their success.
The day’s special guests also read to the scholars to help raise awareness of the many different possible career paths they may be interested in pursuing to help them become better readers. Events like Career Day are meant to motivate scholars to look towards a bright future and are a part of the Uniondale Union Free School District’s ongoing efforts to expand scholars’ horizons and build on their classroom learning.
