Drunk Long Island Woman Crashes Car With Son Inside: Police

The car overturned after striking a parked vehicle Thursday night, police say. The woman's 2-year-old son was inside.

NORTH BABYLON, NY – A 27-year-old woman was arrested on a felony DWI charge after she crashed her car with her 2-year-old son inside Thursday night, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, Desiree Dubois was driving a 1996 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Lombard Street in North Babylon at about 10:50 p.m. when she struck a parked vehicle in front of 514 Lombard Street, overturning the Maxima.

Dubois, of North Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries. Her 2-year-old son was not injured and he was released to a family member, police said.

Dubois was charged with aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (a felony under Leandra’s Law), DWI and endangering the welfare of a child. She is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
