Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center to host Painting Event
VIBS, Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk, needs your help to create futures free from violence.

(Islandia, July 2018) Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk County is kicking off their fundraising season with a evening of painting. Proceeds from this event will support the essential programs and services provided by VIBS to individuals in Suffolk County.
On Thursday, July 26, 2018 members of the community are invited to join VIBS for an evening of painting at Bluestone Tavern of West Sayville, NY. Each participant will choose from one of the three designs and be given detailed instruction on how to create their own masterpiece on a 22 inch cotton lined burlap tote-bag.
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence - 1 in 3 women have been victims of domestic violence, and 1 in 4 men. 1 in 5 women will be raped in her lifetime. Nearly 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men experienced sexual violence victimization other than rape at some point in their lives. VIBS served over 7,000 people in 2017. Established in 1976, Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) has been a pioneer in the domestic violence and rape crisis movements.

VIBS offers specialized counseling, advocacy, 24/7 confidential hotline, community education and legal representation to victims of domestic violence, rape/sexual assault, child sexual abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking, witnesses to homicide and most recently to veterans suffering from Military Sexual Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
This fundraising event will not only help VIBS to raise much needed funds -but it is also an opportunity to spread awareness and help to break the stigma surrounding both domestic violence and sexual assault.
