More than 200 join the Victoria Terenzi 2nd Annual Memorial Event
Community comes together to honor beloved teacher and raise funds for Pink Aid Long Island
This past Sunday more than 200 students, parents and community members came together to honor Vicky Terenzi at the 2nd Annual Victoria Terenzi Memorial 5K Run-Walk at Caumsett State Park. The event raised funds for people struggling with breast cancer. Vicky was a respected and loved Social Studies teacher at Cold Spring Harbor Junior/Senior High School and a local resident who lost her battle with the disease in 2016. She loved Caumsett and it is apparent that her students still love her. This year all proceeds will go to benefit Pink Aid Long as the organization continues to help underserved local women survive breast cancer treatment with dignity and compassion until there is a cure.
The strong youth turnout on Sunday brought awareness to the importance of being your own health advocate and early detection through self-examination. The day was filled with a determination to make the loss of Vicky into a powerful effort to help women of all ages live a better tomorrow. Until the day comes when breast cancer is no longer a disease that takes wonderful women from our lives, together we will run, walk, strut, bake and do whatever we can to end more loss of life.
Pink Aid www.pinkaid.org provides funds to breast cancer coalitions and organizations across Long Island. The Pink Purse program directly assists women in financial need going through treatment. Together Pink Aid and Pink Purse are working to deliver services to ease the struggles that a life with breast cancer include. You can get more involved today by participating in Pink Aid’s 5th Annual Luncheon Live Auction open until this Wednesday afternoon, October 17th! http://www.501auctions.com/pinkaidli
