NY Adds 3 States To Coronavirus Quarantine Order

NEW YORK, NY — New York on Tuesday added three more states to its travel advisory amid a resurgence of coronavirus outbreaks across the country. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Delaware, Kansas and Oklahoma meet the state's metrics for the advisory, which now applies to 19 states. Travelers from those states who visit New York must quarantine for 14 days.

"As states around the country experience increasing community spread, New York is taking action to ensure the continued safety of our phased reopening," Cuomo said in a news release. "Our entire response to this pandemic has been by the numbers, and we've set metrics for community spread just as we set metrics for everything."

The announcement comes as 10 more people in New York died from the COVID-19 disease, which is caused by the coronavirus. About 1 percent of tests conducted in the state Monday were positive.

The quarantine applies to any person arriving from a state with a positive coronavirus test rate higher than 10 residents per 100,000 over a seven-day rolling average or a state with a 10 percent or higher positive rate over a seven-day rolling average.
