Uniondale, N.Y. – Recently, the Uniondale Union Free School District hosted community members, scholars and staff from across the District to the second annual Uniondale Elementary Debate Winter Classic at Uniondale High School. The event, designed to provide young scholars with a special opportunity to practice their oratory skills, featured three rounds of debate between elementary-level scholars about popular cultural topics.
Elementary school debate scholars of the Uniondale School District were eager to compete against their fellow scholars from the other elementary schools within the District. A panel of middle and high-school debate scholars from across the District served as judges in the multi-round competition to determine the elementary-age scholar with the greatest debate skills.
The event consisted of debating topics around the question of “Is Social Media Good for Society?” Northern Parkway Elementary School fifth grade scholars were honored to be awarded first place in the debate competition.
