Bicyclist Killed In Hit And Run On Lower East Side: Police

Borkot Ullah, 24, was biking across East Houston Street when he was struck and killed by a Subaru. The driver did not stay at the scene.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” A 24-year-old bicyclist was hit and killed around 11 p.m. on Thursday by a black Subaru Outback on the Lower East Side, according to police.

NYPD later identified the biker as Chelsea resident Borkot Ullah.

Police responded to a 911 call at 11:03 p.m. Thursday of a vehicle collision with a bicyclist in front of 309 East Houston Street, according to NYPD. Upon arrival, officers found Ullah lying in the street next to his E-bike with severe trauma to his body, police added.

The 24-year-old was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellvue, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway Unit's Collision Investigation Squad found that Ullah was attempting to cross East Houston Street from south to north when he was struck by the Subaru traveling eastbound on the street.

The car did not remain at the scene and was last seen heading northbound on the FDR drive, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing.
