Carbon Monoxide Forces Evacuation Of LES Buildings, FDNY Says
Multiple buildings near Ludlow and Stanton streets were evacuated on Wednesday.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β Multiple buildings on the Lower East Side were evacuated on Wednesday afternoon because of high carbon monoxide levels recorded in the area, according to the FDNY.
No injuries had been reported as of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
High carbon monoxide readings were recorded in multiple buildings near 139 Ludlow St. after a manhole fire broke out near the building, the spokesman said. It was not immediately clear how many buildings were evacuated.

Firefighters are in the process of ventilating affected buildings, the FDNY said.
