LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” A man threatened an MTA employee with a gun and threw a rock at the employee's booth on Wednesday in a failed attempt to steal cash from a Lower East Side subway station, police said.

The man, who police have not yet located or arrested, entered the East Broadway station on Wednesday at about 10:02 p.m. where he saw an on-duty clerk counting cash inside the station's booth, according to the NYPD.

The man threw a large stone at the booth's window and then approached the MTA employee to demand the money that the clerk was counting, police said. When the clerk refused, the man allegedly told the employee he had a gun and again asked for more money. The clerk refused a second time and the man left the station.
