Gunman Tries To Rob Check Cashing Store On LES, Police Say

A man with a gun tried to rob a Payomatic on East Houston Street, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” A gunman tried to rob a check cashing store on the Lower East Side early Friday, according to the NYPD.

A man revealed a gun at a Payomatic at 303 East Houston St. and demanded cash from a clerk at the store Friday just after 3 a.m., police said.

Police said the clerk didn't give any money, and the man ran off westbound on East Houston Street.

He is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 180 pounds, police said.

Surveillance images released by the NYPD show him in a dark hooded-sweatshirt and grey sweatpants.
