Here's What's Changing At The Essex Street Market

The new Essex Street Market is getting 11 new vendors plus two sit-down restaurants.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” The city revealed new plans for the updated version of the Essex Street Market food hall, which is relocating to the mega-development Essex Street Crossing next year.

The new Essex Street Market will expand by adding two sit-down restaurants and 11 new vendors, the city's Economic Development Corporation announced on Thursday. Currently, the Essex Street Market is home to 27 vendors in its space at 120 Essex St. All of these vendors will pack up and move to the new space across the street, plus the the additional restaurants and vendors that will join the market for the first time at Essex Street Crossing. The city still hasn't chosen any of the new vendors, or the full-service restaurants, that will move into the new space next year.

The enter Essex Street Crossing spans multiple blocks along Delancey Street on the Lower East Side. The site, which is currently under construction, will feature new storefronts, apartment buildings, as well as a medical care facility from NYU Langone Medical Center.
