International Center Of Photography To Move Museum, School To The LES

The photography center will join its museum and school under one roof on the Lower East Side.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” The International Center of Photography will consolidate its museum and school into one location on the Lower East Side, the institution announced on Monday.

The ICP will move into a building on Ludlow Street in 2019. The building is part of the massive Essex Crossing development, which will bring multiple new buildings to the Lower East Side by 2024. The entire project is expected to cost $1.5 billion.

The ICP will take up space in a four-story building on Ludlow Street, and will also claim two additional floors at the nearby 242 Broome St., also part of the Essex Crossing development.

β€œWe are thrilled to be reuniting the ICP Museum and the ICP School under one roof,” ICP officials Jeffrey Rosen and Caryl Englander said in a joint statement. β€œThis is something towards which we’ve been working for nearly twenty years.”

Currently, the ICP is split between a museum located in the Lower East Side and a school campus located in Midtown Manhattan. The center paid $23.5 million to open its museum at 250 Bowery just two years ago.
