What: Ecological City is a local tour of gardens and outdoor space on the Lower East Side and in the East Village. The parade involves costumes, dancing, songs and educational elements to help participants learn about sustainable living. Join for the entire day or stop by along the route.


Fuerza Fest

Where: Julia de Burgos Performance and Arts

When: May 8-20

What: FuerzaFest is an annual festival to celebrate LGBTQ+ Latino arts. It was first organized in 2016 "to create a space for dialogue and awareness of the systemic barriers and threats faced by the Latinx communities," according to the website's description. This weekend's schedule includes theater, art exhibits, dance performances and films.


"The Last Horseman of New York" screening

When: May 11-17

What: A new documentary is debuting this month featuring New York City's famous horse-drawn carriage industry. The film covers the future of horse-drawn carriages in the city in the wake of Mayor Bill de Blasio's campaign promise to stop the practice.
