Man Beats Up 89-Year-Old Man On The Lower East Side, Cops Say

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” Cops are searching for a man who beat up an 89-year-old man on the Lower East Side a week ago, police said.

The 89-year-old walked onto an elevator at Rutgers Houses on Madison Street with another man, police said.

Police said when the elderly man walked off, the mugger punched him in the back of the head several times and he fell to the ground Aug. 20 about 2:30 p.m.

The mugger snatched $50 and ran off, police said.

The elderly man was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

Police said he had a cut on his head that required four staples as well as a busted eye socket.
