Man Found Dead In River Near Williamsburg Bridge, Police Say

Officers responded to a 911 call about a person in the East River near the Williamsburg Bridge Thursday night, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” Officers found a man dead in the East River near the Williamsburg Bridge Thursday night, according to police.

About 6 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a 911 call about a person in the water near the bridge in the Seventh Precinct on the Lower East Side, police said.

NYPD Harbor personnel recovered and transported an unconscious man to a pier, where emergency medical services pronounced him dead, according to police.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
