Man Stabbed On D Train After Refusing To Give Muggers Cash: NYPD
The man was attacked by five people as he traveled through the Lower East Side, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY βA man was stabbed and mugged by five people on a D train as it traveled through the Lower East Side, police said.
The 38-year-old man was heading northbound about 3:40 a.m. Sept. 7 when his attackers demanded money from him, police said.
Police said he refused and two of the men began punching him.

A third man told one of the women in the group to give him a knife, police said. Police said the third mugger then began stabbing him in the head and torso.
The five muggers ran off the train at Grand Street station, police said. Police said the 38-year-old with stab wounds was rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

Cops are searching for three men and two women caught on surveillance images released by police.
