LOWER EAST SIDE, NY – A new playground that will be available to the local community will open at a Lower East Side school Monday, officials announced.

The space has been built at P.S. 184, The Shuang Wen School, on Cherry Street. It was designed by students using environmentally-friendly features, the city said.

That includes nearly 30 trees to absorb water, a green roof gazebo and infiltration basins that will catch rainwater under the turf field.
