LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” The New York City street artist famed for his bright-colored hearts scattered across city streets is holding a show on the Lower East Side through August 4.

Hektad will feature more than a dozen new works at a gallery at 198 Allen St. through August 4, free and open to the public 6 to 10 p.m.

Hektad started out painting graffiti within the subway system, and now has street art all over the city. He was also one of the artists commissioned to paint the base of the future 2 World Trade Center.

"I've never painted a bike before. It was pretty exciting," said artist, currently SoHo-based.

The bike brand commissioned Hektad to paint two bikes β€” one which will be donated to an auction to raise funds for pediatric cancer research through Cookies for Kids' Cancer and a second bike that will be displayed at the show.

"Once [Batch Bicycles] pitched that to me, I jumped on board because I love bicycles. I own like 15 bikes," said Hektad, who recently scored a studio space of his own in The Bronx.

"Now that I have my own studio, I can just go crazy," he said. "I can actually relax and paint."
