Robber Calls Victim 'Mexican Rat' In LES Attack: Report
Police are hunting a robber who yelled racist slurs at a Latino man on Monday before attacking him, authorities said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β Police are hunting a robber who yelled racist slurs at a man on Monday before attacking him and stealing his phone, authorities said.
The robber, who police released a sketch of on Thursday night, attacked the 37-year-old man on Monday at about 2:05 a.m. near Broome and Suffolk streets.
An NYPD spokeswoman could not give additional information about the victim or what the robber said to him. The victim, a Latino man, told ABC New York that the robber called him a "Mexican rat" and told him to "get out of my country" before attacking him.

The robber punched the 37-year-old man in the face before slashing him on his arm and leg, police said. The man then demanded the 37-year-old's belongings and ran off with his cell phone, according to the NYPD.
The victim was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Police described the attacker as 6'1' and between 40 and 45 years old.
