Smoke Billows Out Of LES NYCHA Building, FDNY Says

Seventy-eight firefighters rushed to NYCHA's Seward Park Extension on Broome Street, according to the FDNY.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” Smoke billowing from a public housing building on the Lower East Side sent dozens of firefighters to the apartment complex Thursday afternoon, according to an FDNY spokesperson.

Seventy-eight firefighters rushed to 154 Broome St. just south of the Williamsburg Bridge at New York City Housing Authority's Seward Park Extension for reports of smoke coming from the building just after 4 p.m., the spokesperson said.

No injuries had been reported as of 4:20 p.m., the spokesperson said. Firefighters were still at the building.
