Sunday Is The Historic LES Essex Street Market's Final Day
The Essex Street Market's final day is May 5.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β Sunday is your last day to go to the historic Essex Street Market.
The market will temporarily close after May 5 as some two dozen vendors relocate to their new digs at Essex Crossing.
The historic market, located at 120 Essex St., opened in 1940 as a space for street merchants to set up their businesses in one place.

Under the sprawling development project Essex Crossing, the market's vendors will relocate to a new location within the development at 88 Essex St., which is at the base of one of the new mixed-use development project's tallest building.
Last fall, the market's opening was delayed due to construction issues β but the final opening day is this month.

The new Essex Market, which will still be operated by the Economic Development Corporation, opens May 13, the market wrote on Facebook . A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 18.
Nearly two dozen of the existing vendors will relocate, along with 15 new food vendors and two restaurants.
The Essex Market will connect to the so-called Market Line β an extension of vendors and eateries that will run below ground along three blocks.
