LOWER EAST SIDE, NY β€” The B and D trains snarled to a halt after trains with door problems forced straphangers to get off the train and pack a narrow platform on Grand Street Wednesday morning, commuters and the MTA said.

"They just emptied my b train at Grand street and now the entire train is crowded onto the narrow platform," one straphanger, Leah . Golubchick, wrote on Twitter. "It's too crowded for me to reach the exit and take a citibike if I wanted."

Northbound B and D trains were delayed while the MTA investigated a "door problem" at the station, NYCT Subway said about 9:30 a.m. Another door problem at Church Av also sparked delays for northbound B and Q trains.

"Nothing like your train going out of service on the way to work," tweeted Jason Matos. "A delightful time at Grand Street right now," he added, with a photo of shoulder-to-shoulder commuters.

Matos told Patch MTA personnel announced Grand St. would be the last stop.

"So after a lot of grumbles, we all exited the train β€” which was already packed due to the earlier issues in Brooklyn," he said. "'Last Stop' was what they kept repeating."

The "nightmare" of a commute showed people barely able to exit the train since there was no space on the platform.

Wednesday morning saw delays on the 4, 5, B, D, M, N, R, and W trains, with planned work on the 1 and L, and portions of lines suspended on the F and Q, according to the MTA's service status as of about 10:25 a.m.
