TWO BRIDGES, NY β€” A playground in the Two Bridges neighborhood between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges will get a $3.45 million renovation, the Parks Department announced.

Construction at Playground One, next door to local public school P.S. 1, broke ground Tuesday for about one year of construction.

The upgrades include an improved basketball area, more seating, renovated play equipment and more, according to the Department of Parks and Recreation. The design includes sustainable features, such as energy efficient lighting and recycled materials.

The design also incorporates lower fencing to mirror an initiative called Parks Without Borders β€” which is also being implemented at an under-construction project at Seward Park.

Playground One, located on Henry Street between Oliver and Catherine streets, is a part of the de Blasio administration's Community Parks Initiative, which was launched in 2014.
