WATCH: Man Dodges Subway Train, Dances Away Unscathed
A bold straphanger threw a bottle at a train that almost ran him down, then sauntered past firefighters who were looking for him.

CHINATOWN, NY β One man's foray onto the subway tracks Monday morning ended better than most after he narrowly dodged an oncoming B train in Chinatown. The unidentified man apparently ducked under the uptown platform at the Grand Street station at 10:14 a.m. as the train pulled in, then threw garbage at the train and danced away from firefighters, a video posted to Twitter shows.
The train slid past the man after its operator hit the emergency brake, the MTA said. Shon Mogharabi filmed the man reaching up through the crack between the train and the platform and waving at passengers with a cigarette between two of his fingers.
"Heβs all good, he was just enjoying a morning cig under the train," Mogharabi wrote on Twitter.

Wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and grey pants, the man is seen in the video getting out from under the platform, picking up a plastic bottle and throwing it at the front of the train.
The man got back up on the platform and sauntered past oblivious firefighters before other straphangers pointed him out, the video shows. When a firefighter approached him, he just shuffled his feet and tried to dance away.

The FDNY and NYPD took the man from the station to Bellevue Hospital, the MTA said.
The man's "recklessness" delayed "thousands of New Yorkers," Andy Byford, the New York City Transit president, said in a statement. B and D trains were routed around the incident for about half an hour until regular service resumed at 10:46 a.m., the MTA said.
"While we are rightly held to account for matters within our control, and while we are doing our damnedest to turn things around, we need everyone to do their bit to make our subway more reliable," Byford said.

Been living in NYC way too long. Saw a guy on the tracks this AM, with the B train speeding ahead. Tried to pull him out and he ducked under the tracks. Heβs all good, he was just enjoying a morning cig under the train. pic.twitter.com/SV20vtj6go
