1 Dead In Hudson Valley Glider Crash

A New Jersey man was killed Sunday when his glider crashed at the Wurtsboro Airport.

WURTSBORO, NY — A New Jersey man was killed when his glider crashed at a Sullivan County airport Sunday.

New York State Police said the crash happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. at the Wurtsboro Airport.

The initial investigation found that the glider, operated by Khanh H. Nguyen, 64, of Tenafly, New Jersey, crashed on the tarmac and skidded off the runway.

State troopers immediately began life-saving measures, which were taken over by Wurtsboro Fire, Mobil Medic and Mamakating EMS.

Nguyen was taken by Helo MedEvac to Westchester Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and responded to the crash site.
