Gun Buyback Program Set For Newburgh
The state attorney general is hosting the program along with the Newburgh Police Department.

NEWBURGH, NY — The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James is hosting a community gun buyback program in collaboration with the Newburgh Police Department.
It will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 22 at The Cathedral At The House, 131 Broadway in Newburgh.
The following are the payouts:

- Assault rifle: $250
- Handgun: $150
- Rifle or shotgun: $75
- Non-working or antique gun: $25
Payments will be made by prepaid gift card at the site.
If you turn in a working handgun or assault rifle, you can receive an iPad (one per person, subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis).

Guns must be unloaded and placed in a plastic bag, a paper bag or a box. To transport a gun, it must be unloaded and in the trunk in a plastic bag, paper bag or box.
Anyone can surrender as many firearms as they wish. No identification is required; this is an amnesty program. No questions will be asked.
Licensed gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement officers are not eligible to participate in this program.
