19 Taken To Hospital Due To Chemical Exposure In Sullivan County

WOODRIDGE, NY — Nineteen people were taken to the hospital Sunday because of possible chemical exposure at an egg processing facility in Sullivan County.

The Newburg Egg Corporation employees complained of headaches and dizziness, the Times Herald-Record reported, and some were short of breath.

A report of two employees with possible allergic reactions was shorted shortly after noon Sunday at the plant located at 17 Novogrodsky Road in Woodridge.

All 95 employees were evacuated, River Reporter said.

The cause of the exposure is under investigation, though it is thought there was a small leak in a supply line which is part of the processing and preservation of the eggs.

Newburg Egg Corporation is a family owned business started in 1955. The company processes egg products including cooked, scrambled and powdered eggs, egg whites and yolks.
