24 Pounds Of Pot Seized On Thruway: Police

NEWBURGH, NY — An upstate man was accused of having two dozen pounds of pot.

The New York State Police said, around 3 a.m. Monday, troopers stopped a car on Interstate 87 in the town of Newburgh for a vehicle and traffic violation.

While interviewing the driver, probable cause was established to search the vehicle.

Police said the driver, Roqun T. Caban, 20, of Utica, was found to have about 24 pounds of marijuana.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony.

Caban was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Newburgh Court April 5.
