71-Year-Old Dutchess Woman Accused Of Killing 72-Year-Old

State police were called to a home in Wappinger in November to investigate the death of a woman.

WAPPINGER, NY — A 71-year-old southern Dutchess County woman was accused of killing a 72-year-old woman.

The New York State Police, in conjunction with the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office, arrested Joan M. Darcy, 71, of Wappinger, Wednesday and charged her with second-degree manslaughter, a felony.

Police said, on Nov. 5, troopers from the Wappinger barracks went to a home on Scarborough Lane in the town of Wappinger to investigate a deceased woman.

They found the victim — Carol A. Darcy, 72 — had died of blunt force injuries.

Joan Darcy was arraigned in the Dutchess County Court and sent to the Dutchess County jail without bail.

A spokesman for the state police told Patch they were not releasing information about the relationship between the two women.

A request for information from the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office did not receive an immediate reply.
