Alzheimer's Association offers free virtual programs in April
Social and educational webinars available for the general public as well as people with dementia and their family caregivers

The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter will host the following free virtual events via Zoom in April. To register for any of these programs, call the Alzheimer’s Association at 800.272.3900 or click the program name to register online.
Living with Alzheimer’s: For Early-Stage Caregivers (part 3) will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, April 5. This is the third part of a three-part program that offers practical answers to the questions that arise in the early stage.
Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia will be held from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6. Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s, disease stages and risk factors, research, treatments and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body will be held from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, April 6. This program provides information on diet, nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement. Get hands-on tools to develop a plan for healthy aging.
Younger Caregiver Symposium will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. An event with multiple speakers on topics relevant to younger caregivers of people with dementia.

AlzWell Social Club will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10. This event features movement to music, a support group with art therapists, dance and other activities.
Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors will be held from Noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 13. Learn to decode common behaviors by people with dementia.
10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s will be held from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 13. Learn about typical age-related changes, warning signs, Alzheimer’s Association resources and more.
Virtual ALZ Across New York will be held from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, April. 14. A free monthly virtual social engagement activity for those living with dementia and their care partners featuring a virtual tour of the Susan B. Anthony Museum & House in Rochester.
Something for Alz: Musical Moments will be held from 10:3-11:3 a.m. Friday, April. 16. Musical fun for those with dementia and care partners by music therapist Jeffrey Friedberg.
Virtual Visit with New York Therapy Animals will be held from 11-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17. People with dementia and their caregivers can view and interact with New York Therapy Animals as a way to have fun, relax and make new friends..
Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers-Middle Stage (part 1) will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. Monday, April 19, and offer helpful strategies for providing safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stages of Alzheimer’s.

Effective Communication Strategies will be held from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28. Learn to decode verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at every stage of the disease.
