Alzheimer's Association offers virtual programs in May
Educational and social webinars offered for the public, people with dementia and their family caregivers

The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter will host the following free virtual events via Zoom in May. To register for any of these programs, call the Alzheimer’s Association at 800.272.3900 or click the program name to register online.
Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers-Middle Stage (parts 2 and 3) will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. Monday, May 3, and offer helpful strategies for providing safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stages of Alzheimer’s.
Virtual Caregiver Book Club will be held from 4-5 p.m. Monday, May 3. A six week event for caregivers who enjoy reading. Emma Healey's book ‘Elizabeth Is Missing’ will be read and discussed.
Alzheimer’s Community Forum will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, May 4. This forum for Newburgh residents will provide information about memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Effective Communication Strategies will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 5. Learn to decode verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at every stage of the disease.
10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s will be held from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5. Learn about typical age-related changes, warning signs, Alzheimer’s Association resources and more.
Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia will be held from 10-11 a.m. Monday, May 7. Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s, disease stages and risk factors, research, treatments and Alzheimer’s Association resources.
Something for Alz: Musical Moments will be held from 10:3-11:3 a.m. Friday, May 7. Musical fun for those with dementia and care partners by music therapist Jeffrey Friedberg.
AlzWell Social Club will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8. This event features movement to music, a support group with art therapists, dance and other activities.

Virtual Alzheimer's Research Forum will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11. Learn the latest in Alzheimer's and dementia research with three Alzheimer's experts. Get your questions answered during the Q&A period and view an educational presentation on COVID-19 and Caregiving.
Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 12. Learn to decode common behaviors by people with dementia.
Virtual Rare Dementia Panel Discussion will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 12. Experts will discuss Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Virtual Memory Cafe will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13. A social program by the Alzheimer’s Association for people with early-stage dementia and their family caregivers.
