Another Sears Closing In Hudson Valley

According to a notice filed with the state labor department, 65 employees will be laid off.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The mid-Hudson Valley is losing another major retailer. The Sears retail store and Auto Center at the Poughkeepsie Galleria on South Road will be closing effective May 4, according to a Feb. 4 notice the company filed with the state's Department of Labor under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice Act.

The total number of employees who will be affected is 65.

Layoffs will occur May 4 or during a two-week period beginning on that date.

A Sears retail store and auto center remains open at the Newburgh Mall in Newburgh in Orange County.

Sears declared bankruptcy in October 2018, and by that time had already closed 160 Sears and Kmart locations.
