Body Found Wednesday ID'd As Man Missing Since May

Andy Neiman's sister confirmed on her Facebook page that her brother was dead.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The body of man who has been missing since May 21 was found Wednesday.

Emily Asher Abramson confirmed in a Facebook post Saturday that the body found on shore of the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie was her brother Andy Neiman.

"Today I am writing the post I hoped I'd never have to," she said. "The one that concludes this endless ardent search for our brother, Andrew Michael Neiman."

Friends and family organized searches for Neiman, even hiring a drone company, dogs and boats to try to find him.

Abramson said she spent the first half of the month of her brother being missing "wracked with terror," knowing that it was possible he was dead.

She said, with the encouragement her family, she began to believe Neiman was on a journey and would return when he was ready.

"They were not entirely wrong," Abramson said. "He returned to the source, the brackish waters, the meeting of fresh water and tidal ocean. The great womb."
